I saw an otter in the middle of Sherman texas this morning, at around 10:00am CST. it was in a neighbors yard on East College street off Washington and Rickets. I ran toward the creed that run under washington. I was just amazed to see an otter in the middle of town in Sherman Texas.

I'm staying in a condo at 7 coves on Lake Conroe, Tx. I was throwing bread to feed ducks and coots (I guess that's what they are -- all black with a white beak). About 20 or 30 of them were feeding along with a few mallards when there was quite a splash and when I looked I saw what appeared to be an otter or something similar grab one of the coots and took it under. It resurfaced in a few seconds and the bird was gone. Did I really see what I think I saw? I'm from Kansas and never saw an otter, but that's what it looked like to me!!

We saw three today playing in the water around the north side of the warm water discharge at fairfield. Like y'all, at first I thought it was beaver but after watching them we determinded they looked different and also swam different. Stopped at the ranger station and aske and they confirmed it. Although we didn't get pic's it was a very cool thing to see. The rangers said that they had heard of them around but our siting wasa first as far as they knew.

I have a home on Richland-Chambers Lake. We have a pond that backs up to the lake. I have seen two river otters playing in the pond, where they have a "slide"into the lake from the pond side. During the drought, I found two large holes in the banks of the pond. Perfect "Otter condos!!."

Several years ago, my husband and I saw a large gator in the same pond, supposedly using the same "slide" to go in and out.

Two bald eagles are also regulars in a large dead tree in the same area.

About two weeks ago, we saw an otter swimming around our pond and eating fish. It only stayed for about a week. We live in northwestern Navarro county near Corsicana. Our kids had a blast watching the little critter!

We have seen an otter in Rocky Creek where it joins Kickapoo Creek off of Lake Livingston. This otter has always appeared alone.

Being an avid outdoorsman of 40+ years I must say I was more than surprised February the 6th. My son and I were headed out fishing in Waller Co. just off 2920 @ Hegar Rd. when I noticed an animal lying on the shoulder of the road. After a double take it took about 1/2 mile more before I decided I had to verify what I thought I had seen. Once turned around and pulled over I stood in disbelief. It was a full grown female. After some research I see why I never see one. These creatures are definitely more elusive than any fox or coyote combined. P.S. It didn't die in vain because after all these years I finally figured that one set of odd foot prints....... Thanks to a or the weasel.
