Big Time Texas Hunts: Who says ten dollars doesn't buy anything anymore? We'll give you an idea on where to pend that Hamilton...Coming up on Passport To Texas. Passport to Texas from Texas Parks and Wildlife. For the past ten years, hunters have been able to bag a trophy buck, a desert big horn sheep, or even an alligator for a mere 10-dollars, by entering the Big Time Texas Hunts. "The Big Time Texas Hunts are a fundraising effort to generate money to provide additional hunting opportunities and to fund wildlife conservation efforts in Texas." Linda Campbell heads up the annual program, now in its tenth year, and which has generated over 2-million dollars to the effort. For ten dollars each, a hunter can enter one or all seven different categories, as many times as they'd like. "We've got Texas Grand Slam where one winner is awarded four separate guided hunts, complete with food and lodging for a 3-5 day hunt period. One hunt is for a desert bighorn sheep, a desert mule deer, white tail deer and pronghorn antelope. One winner wins all four hunts. The winner also gets to take a non-hunting companion." Last year, an estimated 82-thousand entries were submitted for the drawings, with the two most popular being the Grand Slam and the White Tail Bonanza. "For the White Tail Bonanza we have ten winners, and they can take along a hunting companion, so we are providing 20 hunters with a high quality deer hunt." Deadline to enter is November 5th. Entries can be purchased wherever licenses are sold. For a listing of all of the drawing categories, and more information on the Big Time Texas Hunts, log on to our website, passporttotexas.org.
