October Magazine: It's Expo time in the latest issue of Texas Parks and Wildlife magazine. That's coming up on Passport To Texas. Passport to Texas from Texas Parks and Wildlife. We'll gear up for the largest free outdoor recreation event in the United States in the latest issue of Texas Parks and Wildlife magazine. Here's managing editor, Charles Lohrmann. October is Expo month for both Texas Park and Wildlife Department and the magazine. The state is becoming primarily an urban state and very few urban youth particularly have a chance to get outside and try their hand at fishing or maybe do some kayaking or experience some other outdoor activities or wildlife viewing. And what makes the event so special is that it actually gives everyone a chance to try some of these activities. One other interesting article is about butterflies in the lower Rio Grande Valley. The Valley has been known as a birding destination for some time, but one of the things that people might not realize is that 300 of the country's 500 butterflies species are recorded in the Lower Rio Grande Valley. Then we're going to explore the urban landscape in Houston, with an article on the bayous that run through the city. And a couple of other interesting points one is fishing for striped bass in North Texas Lake Texoma and we will have some notes on the opening of government canyon state park in west of San Antonio. The October issue is on newsstands now, to learn more about the magazine, including subscription information, come to our website, passporttotexas.org. For Texas Parks and Wildlife, I'm Cecilia Nasti.
