DISORIENTED EXPRESS: (SFX: train whistle) It's all aboard for some Southern discomfort ... we'll explain ... on Passport to Texas ... _________________________________________________ Passport to Texas from Texas Parks and Wildlife Entertainment doesn't get much more fun than the annual interactive murder mystery at the Texas State Railroad State Park. "The overall event is always called the Murder on the Disoriented Express. And this year their actual title for the presentation is Southern Discomfort." Mark Price is operations superintendent. Scheduled October 15, festivities begin with an outdoor dinner of Southern favorites, under the tents at the Palestine station. "The feel for the time period gets started during the meal. And as soon as everyone boards the train, the action starts immediately. The individuals start their dialog, taking about - oh good the train is pulling out - and it just kind of rolls from there, then." Price wouldn't give away details about the production, other than to say it's a benefit for the Palestine Library, and -- if you're up for it -- you can play along. "The number one thing that all the actors try to do is get to get the visitors involved. They mentally can pick out individuals that are a little more extroverted, a little more outgoing, and they quickly encourage them to start participating." Murder on the Disoriented Express always sells out early. Make your reservations by calling the Palestine Chamber of Commerce at 903-729-6066. That's our show ... now go outside and play ... for Texas Parks and Wildlife ... I'm Cecilia Nasti.
