COASTAL BAY TEAM:: If you're an angler with a competitive streak ... sign up for the Coastal Bay Team Tournament ... details are ahead on Passport to Texas Passport to Texas from Texas Parks and Wildlife Grab your saltwater fishing gear, your favorite fishing buddy and hop in the car, because you're entering the Coastal Fisheries Bay Team Tournament. "Our next tournaments is going to be on October 29th , over on Pleasure Island there in Sabine. And then the last tournament of the year will be on November the 12th in Texas City over at Boyd's One Stop. " Robert Adami coordinates the free event. Each Coastal Fisheries Bay Team tournament is open to 30 two-person teams, 21 years old or older. The tournament allows coastal fisheries to collect specific fish for their hatchery breeding programs. Southern Flounder is the target species October 29 and November 12th. "We're just getting ready to start new programs, and we want to make sure we have plenty of fish ready to work with." At each tournament, anglers who bring in fish are entered in a drawing for a chance to win a lifetime fishing license worth $600. Participants who do not bring in fish are also entered into another drawing for a fishing gear prize package. Registration takes place on-site the day of each tournament. "It's on a first come first served basis. It starts promptly at 6 a.m., and it ends right at twelve o'clock. And our prizes are awarded shortly thereafter - no later than about twelve-thirty."
