JUNIOR ANGLER: Teach a kid to fish, and you've given them a gift that lasts a lifetime ... details ahead on Passport to Texas ... ______________________________________________________ Passport to Texas from Texas Parks and Wildlife Fishing is something that generations can enjoy together. "What I love to see in Texas are these families that get together and fish together." Ann Miller is the aquatic education coordinator for Texas Parks and Wildlife. "It's getting the kids outdoors. It's getting them playing and enjoying the out of doors together. And I think it's a really good family bonding time. " If you are not an angler, but would like to help your child learn about fishing, there's always Texas Parks and Wildlife's Junior Angler program. "This is to teach kids the very basics of fishing. That includes not only how to use the different types of fishing tackle, also about fish identification, about aquatic ecosystems and about ethical behavior as an angler." And if you're an angler who wants to share your love of the sport with kids, the Junior Angler program is also for you. "In the instructor class, we give them all of the tools and the knowledge and skills they would need to teach kids the junior angler program." There's a Junior and Master Angler Workshop scheduled November 12, at Fishing Tackle Unlimited in Houston. Find more information on the TPWD web site.
