BATTLESHIP TEXAS PEARL HARBOR CEREMONY: Paying tribute ... details ahead on Passport to Texas ... ____________________________________________________________ Passport to Texas from Texas Parks and Wildlife On Sunday morning, December 7, 1941, few were prepared for what happened. "We interrupt this program to bring you a special news bulletin - the Japanese have attacked Pearl Harbor, Hawaii by air, President Roosevelt has just announced. The attack also was made on all naval and military activities on the principle island of Oahu." The following day, President Roosevelt addressed a stunned nation. "Yesterday, December 7th, 1941, a date which will live in infamy. United States of American was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan." Saturday we honor the men and women who lost their lives and those who survived - during a special ceremony on Battleship Texas. Barry Ward. "The memory of that day is something that should not pass from our collective conscious. We do it specifically here on the Battleship Texas, because the Texas was such an integral part of our effort in both world wars. And is kind of a natural fit, it's quite representative of what men and women from America did in those wars to make the world a better place." The ceremony begins at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 3.
