FLY-FISHING WORKSHOP 1: Looking to learn something new this year? Try fly-fishing ... find out how on Passport to Texas ... ____________________________________________________________ Passport to Texas ... from Texas Parks and Wildlife Interested in learning the basics of fly-fishing? Then attend a free fly-fishing workshop at Huntsville State Park, January 21. The basic fly-fishing workshop is designed and set up to give people the opportunity to come and dabble in the sport and see if they like it. :08 Brenda Justice, aquatic education specialist at the Dickinson Marine Lab, says the workshop is open to participants 12 years old and older. Instructors will create a fun learning environment for all attendees ... Giving them the chance to actually learn a little bit about the equipment. They will also learn how to tie some knots that they would need to set up their rod and reel, and to get their gear ready to fish. They also will have the opportunity to do some aquatic studies -- looking at some of the insects and bugs that you actually would find in some of the waters that you may be fishing. And that will lead right into doing some fly tying. Participants will actually get a chance to tie a fly that - after the workshop's over - they can take it to the lake and fish with it. :31 The workshop runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. January 21. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and bring a sack lunch; reservations are required. There's more information in the calendar section of the Texas Parks and Wildlife web site.
