COASTAL BAY TEAM 1: A coastal fishing tournament that helps improve coastal fisheries ... details ahead on Passport to Texas. ___________________________________________________________ Passport to Texas from Texas Parks and Wildlife and the Sport Fish Restoration Program Skilled anglers, come participate in the Coastal Fisheries Bay Team Tournaments and help Texas Parks and Wildlife catch southern flounder and spotted sea trout for its hatchery breeding programs. The first two tournaments are scheduled April 8 and 22. The event is basically for the community to help us collect brood stock for our hatchery program. And we're going to be collecting spotted sea trout the first two events in April down in South Padre and Corpus Christi. :13 Robert Adami oversees the program, which helps to improve coastal fisheries. Each Coastal Fisheries Bay Team tournament is open to 30 two-person teams, on a first-come, first-serve basis. To enter into the event, you've got to come register on site to be able to participate. We're not doing any kind of phone in registration or anything like that. You've got to be onsite so that we know we have X number of people out there fishing at that given time. :14 The first event will be at the Sea Ranch Marina on South Padre Island. In a way, the anglers are going to be giving something back. We all like to go fishing, and we take ... take ... take ... And this is a good way for someone to help give back to the natural resource. :10 Tomorrow: landing prizes for reeling in fish. That's our show ... .The Sport Fish Restoration Program supports our series ... and also helps to fund Sea Center Texas in Lake Jackson. For Texas Parks and Wildlife ... I'm Cecilia Nasti.
