ANGLER RECOGNITION: Reeling in recognition for anglers ... details ahead on Passport to Texas. ___________________________________________________________ Passport to Texas from Texas Parks and Wildlife and the Sport Fish Restoration Program Anglers can get more than a good feeling from reeling in a big fish - they can get formal acknowledgment for their trophy catch through Texas Parks and Wildlife's Angler Recognition Program. We have a weight category where you can get water body records by weight ... . :03 Joedy Gray coordinates the program for the agency. ... And we basically follow the guidelines set by IGFA. And we also have big fish awards; we have first fish awards for kids that catch their first fish, and outstanding angler for those anglers that don't fit in any category. And now we've started - a couple of years ago - an elite angler award. That's for someone who catches five trophy big fish - saltwater or freshwater - and you get an elite angler certificate for that. And we have a junior program that we just started for kids 16 and under that goes by the same criteria as the adult category. And now we just recently started the catch release program in January. :37 And we'll learn more about the new catch/release program on tomorrow's show.
