No worries ... we've got you covered ... details ahead on Passport to Texas. ___________________________________________________________ PTT from TPWD and the Sport Fish Restoration Program You want to give angling a try, but don't have tackle, and aren't not sure you want to buy it before you try it. That is so not a problem. The tackle loaner program is a really good way to get back into fishing or to get into fishing for the first time. :06 Ann Miller is aquatic education coordinator at Texas Parks and Wildlife. The tackle loaner program allows anglers to borrow tackle the way readers borrow library books. So you can go to one of our tackle loaner sites, check out the basic tackle, you'll need to bring your own bait, but you can borrow that equipment and go fishing. :10 Many tackle loaner site are in state parks, and fishing in state parks is free during the yearlong family fishing celebration. So borrow there, and fish there. So, be sure to ask there at the park headquarters exactly where your best fishing spots are. For some parks, where the lake or river is not completely surrounded by the park, you need to ask the park folks where on that river or lake you still can fish for free. :19 You can check out tackle for up to seven days. There's no charge for borrowing the equipment. We just ask you that you return it in good shape. And that's it. :07 That's our show for today ... supported by the Sport Fish Restoration program.. working to increase fishing, and boating opportunities in Texas ... For Texas Parks and Wildlife ...
