PINYWOODS PARKS ROUNDUP: Visit state parks in the Pinywoods for east Texas fun details on Passport to Texas. ___________________________________________________________ Passport to Texas from Texas Parks and Wildlife May is a special time of year to visit parks in the Pinywoods region of the state -- that's because springtime has taken hold, and everything is lush, green, and just waiting for you to come out and enjoy it. [Train whistle] The Texas State Railroad is ready to serve your old time locomotive needs. On May 11, 12, 18 and 19 students can experience a special one and a half hour train ride and picnic during the School Train Excursion program. It's a great way to celebrate the end of the school year. And on May 12 through 14, the railroad honors the men and women of the military - past and present - during Armed Forces day Weekend. [Fiddle music] You're invited to the Mission Tejas Folk Festival on May 13. Located in Grapeland, this event will transport visitors to an earlier time, when settlers depended on their skills and wits to survive the untamed Texas frontier. And later in the month, on the 20th, visitors can participate in the Camino Real Archeology tour at Mission Tejas. Weather permitting, hear a brief history of the first Spanish Mission in East Texas where our state got its name. Log onto the Texas parks and Wildlife website for details, including reservation and fee information, for these and other events. That's our show for today. Thank you for joining us. For Texas Parks and Wildlife ... I'm Cecilia Nasti.
