Passport to Texas from Texas Parks and Wildlife 

History and nature take top billing at state parks in the 
Prairies & Lakes region of the state.

Gather up the family and head to the Kreische Brewery 
SHS in LaGrange. Every Saturday and Sunday weather 
permitting, take a guided walking tour with a trained 
docent through the ruins of one of the first breweries in 
Texas. Free for state parks pass holders. Reservations 
are required.

[hiking] Next time someone tells you to "take a hike," head 
over to Lockhart SP. From 10 AM to Noon on June 17 
enjoy a guided tour along Clear Fork Creek, through the 
wooded hillside, to the recreation hall and cistern built by 
the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). So close but yet 
so far out.

In the mid 19th century, Fanthorp Inn SHS in Andersen was 
a stopover for weary travelers. Weekends this month, take 
a guided tour of the site and learn what life was like for 
people traveling across the wilds of Texas in the middle 
of the 1800s. Free for state parks pass members.
 
[Old time music] Enjoy a peaceful evening of cowboy 
music, poetry and stories around a campfire on June 17 at 
Lake Mineral Wells SP. Learn and experience the cow 
camp lifestyle and local historical treasures through the 
music and poetry of old-time cowboys. Bring a lawn chair.
