OUTDOOR STORIES - BENNY LANDRUM: His family spent time together outdoors ... and the experiences lasted a lifetime ... and he shares his memories on PTT Outdoor Stories ... ___________________________________________________________ Passport to Texas Outdoor Stories from TPWD Benny Landrum grew up in a family that enjoyed spending time outdoors together -- from camping and hiking ... to time on the water ... as well as pulling fish out of the water ... Well, when I was a kid, summertime we'd always go up to the Guadalupe, and tube down the Guadalupe river with the family camping. You know, I mean, nothing's like tubing on the Guadalupe River when you're a kid. I mean, it's just so exciting; the water was freezing cold. And as soon as you got out, you wanted to get right back in. You couldn't wait to get back in the water. And also, when I was small, one of my most memorable experiences fishing is ... my father would take me to the Galveston fishing pier, and we'd sit out there and we'd just catch a ton of fish. I think it makes me more appreciative of what the state of Texas has to offer ... from the rivers ... to the fisheries ... to the state parks ... . I live in the city of Houston, and there's a ton of state parks close to the city of Houston that we frequent. Brazos bend state park, Huntsville state park ... that you can go to that's not too far from the city ... and really get to enjoy fishing and camping and hiking ... as a family like I did when I was a kid. :45 Thanks Benny.
