Passport to Texas from Texas Parks and Wildlife

Ever gone to a state park only to find out all the 
campsites are filled? Save yourself the grief by calling 
ahead for reservations ... 

"Once you get a time and a place you need to call us as soon as 
possible ... some of our site types go extremely fast ... cabins, for 
instance, will rent out 11 months in advance." :10

Luke Thompson is with Texas Parks and Wildlife's 
Reservations Call-In Center, where phones always ring ... 

[Nat sound] "OK ... Garner is going to booked for Friday night ... and 
let me see what we have in the area ... (LT) "We make reservations 
for all state parks in Texas, which includes all of our 
campgrounds, group facilities, our lodges." :17

If you can't get in by phone, park reservations can be 
taken by FAX, or even on the Internet ... 

"It does require a credit card to confirm a reservation on the spot, 
but you can do it and get a confirmation right away." (Nat sound): 
"I do have availability for the 27th leaving the 29th with just a water 
campsite ... " :12

The reservation call center is opened Monday through 
Friday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 to noon.
