TPWD TV - JULY RUNDOWN: Water ... black bear ... and the Houston Zoo ... we'll tell you where to find them all on Passport to Texas ... ____________________________________________________________ Passport to Texas from Texas Parks and Wildlife You have to come inside sometime this summer. When you do, make sure it's to spend a half hour with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Television series, which airs on PBS stations statewide. Writer/producer, Ron Kabele highlights some of the stories to expect in the weeks ahead. "The first week in July, there's a segment from the water documentary. And, I always enjoy watching those because Walter Cronkite narrates those. The week of July second, there's a story in there called The Black Bears of Black Gap. I didn't shoot that, but I edited it. And it was so much fun. It was about Billy Pat McKinney and his wife. The funniest sequence in that is when one of the biologists, she's crawling on her hands and knees, putting a piece of meat down to capture a bear. And it's a very unflattering pose. And, you know, when you're editing a story you just think 'I just hope that person doesn't get mad at me for putting that in.' I bet she did. One of my favorite stories is Creatures of the Night. In that one, one of our photographer / producers, he went and he spent every evening at the Houston Zoo. He would start shooting when everybody else went home. And the whole concept is, what happens at a zoo at night. And it was fascinating. And he shot everything in blue light to make it look dark and spooky. And he used spooky music. It was fun. :1:03 Check your local television listings to find out where and when the show airs in your town. That's our show for today ... thank you for joining us. For Texas Parks and Wildlife ...
