AUGUST MAGAZING HIGHLIGHT: The August issue of Texas Parks and Wildlife magazine will appeal to birders who paddle ... details on Passport to Texas ... ____________________________________________________________ Passport to Texas from Texas Parks and Wildlife If you're a birder who also likes to spend time on the water in a kayak, there's an article in the August issue of Texas Parks and Wildlife magazine you'll definitely have to read. Managing Editor Charles Lohrmann. One of my favorite articles in the August issue is Birding by Boat, written by Jim Blackburn who is an attorney who knows the coast. And spends a lot of time on the water, and has found birding in a kayak is one of the best ways to get out on the water and experience the magic of the coast. It's the perfect article to read on a Saturday morning while you're drinking a cup of coffee and thinking about a getaway ... Really you can do this anytime through the fall or into the winter. And the reality is you may not want to do this in August. It's going to be hot out there. One of the really unique experiences he describes in the article is seeing a migrating vireo literally fall out of the sky exhausted from the trip across the Gulf of Mexico. It falls into the marsh grass there, and then he comes back a little while later and it's flow away. It's recovered. But, it's that kind of unique experience ... whether you're seeing shorebirds, fishing or you may find a rookery depending on the time of year where the birds are nesting ... really the opportunities are almost endless. :60 The August issue of Texas Parks and Wildlife magazine is on newsstands now. That's out show ... For Texas Parks and Wildlife ... I'm Cecilia Nasti.
