CANOE TOUR: A tour for beginning canoeists ... find out where on Passport to Texas ... ____________________________________________________________ Passport to Texas from Texas Parks and Wildlife Canoeists -- make plans to be at Inks Lake State Park in Burnet this month for a paddling tour of Devil's Waterhole. Devil's Waterhole is an area in which Deer Creek feeds into Inks Lake. So, you have a pretty little waterfall falling in, and it's an interesting geological area. :09 Robert Smith is the park naturalist and peace officer at the park. The tours are every other Sunday and every Thursday in July. It's a neat little area. People jumping off the cliff, people are fishing down there. You know, canoeists go down there. It's kind of a neat little cove area down on one end. We canoe down to that area and look at some of the geological aspects. And then we'll cut back up, go past the jumpers, go up the high grass areas, up to the old Native American trade area; then we'll come back in. And that's about an hour and a half to two hours. :22 As long as you have basic canoeing skills, the Devil's Waterhole tour will be a breeze. It's not a hard trip. It just something that takes a little bit of concentration, a little bit of work on it. But it's not particularly a real physically demanding thing. :08 Reservations are required. Log onto the Texas Parks and Wildlife events calendar for information on registration and fees. That's our show for today ... thank you for joining us ... for Texas Parks and Wildlife ...
