AUGUST MAGAZING RUNDOWN: If you're looking for cool reading in the heat of summer ... we know what you need ... details on Passport to Texas ... ______________________________________________________ Passport to Texas from Texas Parks and Wildlife Looking for some great summer reading? Look no further than the August issue of Texas Parks and Wildlife magazine. Managing Editor Charles Lohrmann. Well, our August issue has several articles that describe activities that are either good for August or for the fall months. So you can either plan a getaway for a hot summer afternoon or a cooler fall day. And we have a good one called Dog Friendly Parks, which describes about a dozen destinations where you can take your dog and go swimming or go hiking or just enjoy the outdoors with your favorite pet. And then also we have planning for the hunting season, which is basically a public hunting primer - access to public lands throughout the state. And then we have an article about the largest saltwater fishing tournament on South Padre Island, and it's a big event that attracts individual anglers and families alike. And one other thing that I found interesting was an article called The Quail Whisperer by Henry Chapel, and it was about A.S. Jackson who was one of the first biologists to advocate creative management for Bobwhite quail. :58 That's out show ... For Texas Parks and Wildlife ... I'm Cecilia Nasti.
