TPWD TV - HIGHLIGHTS: Make sure your TIVO, DVR, or VCR are in working order ... because we're going to tell you about TV programming you won't want to miss, on Passport to Texas ... ____________________________________________________________ Passport to Texas from Texas Parks and Wildlife If it's too hot to be outdoors, do the next best thing: watch the Texas Parks and Wildlife TV series in air conditioned comfort. Ron Kabele is a series producer. "Well, one story is about cowboys; it takes place at the pitchfork ranch, near Lubbock. And this ranch is famous for their cowboys, who work the traditional ways of the old-fashioned cowboys of yesteryear. You look at these guys, especially the old guys, and they could just walk into a John Wayne movie. "One story is about the importance of urban parks, especially now that it's getting harder and harder to get out into the countryside as the metropolitan areas have grown so large, and it's just a way to lighten the crush of city life, and that's what these parks are for. "Another one is the ecology of the bays; and in this one Walter Cronkite narrates about the ecological importance of Texas Bays, and how it's going to take a lot of work and commitment to keep these areas clean and productive. Okay, the last one is on wade fishing. Wade fishing is about as basic as it gets. There's no boats, and there's minimal gear. And this talks about the almost four hundred miles of area along the Texas coast where you can wade fish. And one big advantage is that you can go where a boat can't go."
