minute to purchase your annual hunting and fishing licenses.

Passport to Texas from Texas Parks and Wildlife 

Every August 15th a line forms outside the Texas Parks and 
Wildlife offices in Austin ... with everyone waiting their turn to 
purchase annual hunting and fishing licenses. 

"About five years ago, we set a date of August 15th to give 
our dove hunters plenty of time so they aren't standing in 
line on August 31st, getting ready for that first day of 
dove hunting season. So we want to urge everyone to get out 
there early, and get your license, so you aren't the guy 
standing in line at the last minute."

Craig Richlen is the Revenue Director at Texas Parks and 
Wildlife. Of course, you don't have to come to Austin to pick up 
your license; licenses are sold at more than 2,000 sporting 
goods stores and retailers, and at any Parks and Wildlife office. 
Wherever you go to get your license, bring some identification.

"If you are a resident, bring your license or last year's hunting 
or fishing license and either of those things will help us identify 
you and find you in the system and that the way to make your 
transaction the fastest. If you've never bought one before, don't 
wait until the last minute, because, we have to get all of your personal 
information ... "
