Before the kids go back to school this month, take time
for a trip to the Texas gulf coast for an education
vacation. The place to begin -- Sea Center Texas.

Sea Center Texas is a marine aquarium, fish hatchery, and
nature center in Lake Jackson.

One of the most popular exhibits at the facility is their 20
foot touch tank -- a shallow pool filled with exotic
creatures native to the Texas coast. It's an interactive
exhibit, and guests may pet these critters and explore
their habitat through interpretive programs.

Visitors are also encouraged to tour the thriving redfish
hatchery at Sea Center Texas. Redfish are an important
sport fish in the gulf; and the hatchery makes certain a
robust population thrives in Texas waters. Tours are
Tuesdays through Saturdays, and are 45-minutes long.
Reservations are required.

And, every Saturday morning beginning at 10:30,
storytellers read aloud engaging, stories about the sea.
Although the tales are selected for pre-school children,
they will appeal to the whole family.

Admission to Sea Center Texas is free, but donations are
welcome. More information regarding this and other
events can be found on the Texas Parks and Wildlife
website.
