LAKE TEXANA 25TH ANNIVERSARY : Celebrate the 25th anniversary of Lake Texana State Park ... details on Passport To Texas. Passport to Texas from Texas Parks and Wildlife On September 9, Lake Texana State Park will celebrate 25 years of providing the public outdoor recreation and education with a free festival. The park recalls the improvements and success since first opening the gates in Edna, Texas. We opened the state park in 1981, Labor Day, first park here in Jackson County. We've added 6 miles of trail which we didn't have at the beginning. In those 25 years, we've installed a nature center and hired an interpretive ranger. David Lopez, Park Superintendent for Lake Texana State Park. With our 25 years of being open, we want to reacquaint our public to Lake Texana State Park and just to get out and enjoy the outdoors. We want to just keep our park here in the public eye, and for a lot of our long time visitors, give them something to celebrate, be apart of our park family. And also to new people who have not know about Lake Texana State Park. To commemorate the anniversary, expect to see some special visitors in the park, as well as plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy. We're going to have the Buffalo Soldiers here, along with the Austin Rangers. Operation Game Thief's going to put up a trailer. We have fisheries, touch tanks. We're going to have a barbeque, and arts and crafts shows, and lots of things for the kids. Details about Lake Texana's 25th Anniversary can be found on the Texas Parks & Wildlife website.
