EXPO, 1: Grab your calendar and pencil in a weekend of outdoor recreation ... we'll explain on Passport to Texas ... ____________________________________________________________ Passport to Texas from Texas Parks and Wildlife Ever wished you and your family could experience everything the great Texas outdoors has to offer all in one place? You can ... Saturday and Sunday, October 7 & 8 at Texas Parks and Wildlife Expo. This is our fifteenth anniversary for the Expo. And we're excited about having all those Moms, Dads and the kids out here. Ernie Gammage is Expo director. The free two-day event takes place from eight to five both days on the grounds of Texas Parks and Wildlife Headquarters in Austin. You can shoot, you can mountain bike, you can kayak, you can actually fish, you can learn all about camping and outdoor skills. We have rock climbing walls; we have all kinds of animals, demonstrations, workshops, seminars ... But mostly it's a place to get out and do stuff in the outdoors. Texans used to live in rural settings and spending time outdoors was a natural part of their day. Urbanization has changed that. As a result, many of us are inexperienced when it comes to recreating outdoors. Expo can help. For those people who don't have a chance to recreate in the outdoors - who don't have an Uncle Bob or an Aunt Minnie who lives on a farm somewhere - it's a chance for them to explore the outdoors and all the things that you can do in it. The Texas Parks and Wildlife web site is where you'll find more information about this year's Expo events. That's our show for today ... thank you for joining us ... For Texas Parks and Wildlife ... I'm Cecilia Nasti.
