GERMAN CHRISTMAS/TRAIL OF LIGHTS : Experience an authentic 19th century German Christmas ... We'll tell you where on Passport To Texas. (Week of Dec 4) Passport to Texas from Texas Parks and Wildlife Monument Hill and Kreische Brewery, located in LaGrange, hosts Christmas gatherings that celebrate the German culture of the Hill Country. Whether you want to host a seasonal party or whisper your wish-list to Santa, the festive decorations at the state park are sure to put you in the holiday spirit. We have two different programs here, the Early German Christmas and Trail of Lights. The Early German Christmas is a special tour that's given to groups that have reservations to do such. This is very important to the community, I mean, of course you know Christmas is always a big time anywhere. Germany was the first place to have the glass-blown Christmas ornaments, and that's part of what we also have in the house, are some authentic Christmas ornaments that came from Germany. :20 Dennis Smith, Park Manager of Monument Hill and Kreische Brewery. Trail of Lights program is open to the public. The trails of the park here are decorated in Christmas ornaments and lights. We have entertainment: Mr. and Ms. Clause are here. This has been a big factor in the local culture in a sense as well. They've been doing this program for the last twenty years. It's just a good opportunity for people to come out and enjoy the park. :18 To make reservations for the Early German Christmas program, call Monument Hill and Kreische Brewery State Historic Sites.
