CHRISTMAS EVENTS,2: This Saturday take the family to a state park for holiday cheer ... Details ahead on Passport to Texas (Week of Dec 4) ____________________________________________________________ Passport to Texas from Texas Parks and Wildlife Saturday, December 9, seems to be THE day for holiday events in state parks. Candlelight Christmas at The Barrington Living History Farm-Washington-on-the-Brazos SHS -- is where the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of a traditional 19th century Texas Christmas come alive. Help decorate Barrington with greenery, play traditional games, make old-fashioned crafts, and more. From 1 - 8 pm. If you like to sing, consider these caroling events: Caroling through Penn Farm in Cedar Hill SP outside Dallas, Christmas Caroling at the Mansion at Fulton Mansion SHS, on the coast in Fulton, and a Christmas Caroling Hayride at Stephen F. Austin SP, in San Felipe, located along the Brazos. Other activities are planned around the singing. These are great activities for the entire family. And, out of the wreckage of Hurricane Rita, Martin Dies Junior, SP, in Jasper, has plenty to celebrate this season, now that it's open again to the public. Come to its Holiday Celebration on Saturday, and take part in the Gingerbread House Design and Construction Marathon - all supplies provided by the park's friend's group; there's a sing-a- long concert of seasonal songs and hymns, and more. All activities take place in the dining hall in the Walnut Ridge unit of the park. Visit the Texas Parks and wildlife website for times and admission fees for these and other holiday events in state parks and historic sites. That's our show for today ... Happy Holidays ...
