Passport to Texas from Texas Parks and Wildlife and the 
Sport Fish and Wildlife Restoration Program

As we begin our transition into the New Year, we'd like 
you to consider making a resolution ... one that has you 
and your kids regularly getting away from the static of 
modern living to spend time outdoors engaged in soul 
satisfying activities.

Today, we have so many things competing for our time, and 
fishing can be such a wonderful activity ... resolve to take a child 
fishing ... (:09)

Gary Saul is the Chief of Inland fish hatcheries for Texas 
Parks and Wildlife. He says while taking a child fishing is 
intended to stir their imaginations -- adults get just as 
much satisfaction from the experience.

When a child catches a fish ... to watch them reel it in ... to pick it 
up and to look at you and then get excited about when are we 
going fishing again ... it's great fun. (:14)

As part of our Family Fishing Celebration, you and your 
family can fish for free in any state park that offers 
fishing opportunities. Some locations even have a tackle 
loaner program. So resolve to take your kids fishing in 
the New Year - and there will be plenty of smiles to go 
around.

Woo ... you've got a bass. Whoa ... that's bigger than mine ... I 
think. Did ya get him in? Woo, okay. Get a catfish? No, it's a 
bass. Whoa ... my dad gonna be happy (:15)
