Passport to Texas from Texas Parks and Wildlife

Indian Lodge ... located in Davis Mountain State Park ... 
was built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation 
Corps ... was rendered in the Southwestern Pueblo 
Architectural Style. 

It's the only pueblo style structure in Texas. :03

David Bischofhausen (bish-off-howzen) manages the 
Davis Mountains State Parks Complex. While years of use 
took its toll on this unique and venerable facility ... 
recently completed renovations have returned the lodge 
to its former glory. The renovation process at times was 
nearly overwhelming, because with each layer workers 
removed ... additional challenges presented themselves. 
Less dedicated individuals would have given up.

I guess here at Parks and Wildlife, we never give up. We knew it 
was going to be a challenge and that if we kept pushing through 
it and doing it right, that the end product would be worth it - and 
believe me - it is. I mean, historic architects came in and redid a 
lot of the furnishings as far as curtains and rugs and things of 
that nature to make it look back in the thirties. :24

Visitors enthralled by the rustic beauty and charm of the 
Lodge, will also be captivated by the West Texas 
landscape. 

We're in the foothills of the Davis Mountains. So, you're definitely 
in a sky island - lots of vegetation, lots of wildlife. If you've never 
been to the Davis Mountains, it's just gorgeous. :10
