TPW TV -- MAY HIGHLIGHTS: Hand cycles, tent care, gorgeous lakes, and birding basics ... details on Passport to Texas. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Passport to Texas from Texas Parks and Wildlife TPW TV producer Ron Kabele gives offers sneak peek at May programming, starting with a story about an unusual cross country trip. And there was this guy, and he was going from Canada to Mexico riding a hand cycle. I don't know how many times two guys in wheelchairs ever road a bike across the United States -- it might be a first. And he was doing it to raise money. The money was going to go so that they could purchase hand cycles for other disabled kids. The hand cycling is fun! Another piece we have is about tent maintenance. You know, a lot of people they get out there, in the middle of nowhere, and then they have a problem with their tent. A common problem for all tent campers are holes developing in the bottom of the tent from rocks being tracked in on shoes, or rocks pocking holes up through the bottom of the tent. I went to Lake Whitney SP last year. It's a beautiful lake. It's so hard to just get away and be a family. And when you can come to a place like this and for the first time you kind of realize what it's supposed to be all about. (Bird chirping) Another story this month is the basics of birding. (Woodpecker) Oh, a pileated woodpecker. (Bird call) You know, it's kind of like a mystery game to me. :1:07 Experience the mystery when you tune in to Texas Parks and Wildlife TV on PBS. That's our show for today ... For Texas Parks and Wildlife ... I'm Cecilia Nasti.
