TOF BRAZOS BEND: Houston area families learn how to
enjoy the outdoors together on Passport to Texas.

Passport to Texas from Texas Parks and Wildlife

[:01 ambience] Okay, guys, are you ready? We're going to see
some neat things. I'll show you a baby alligator; we'll let you
touch a snake also. Do all snakes bite? No. Are you sure? :13

These kids were sure after visiting the Nature Center at
Brazos Bend State Park. While the kids learned about
wildlife, [ambient bird songs from park] their parents learned
how to set up camp, including using a propane stove, as
part of a Texas Outdoor Family Workshop.

The way that the liquid fuel gets into the fuel line is through
pressure, You have to make sure that the tank is pressurized.
So, this little plunger right here is the way that you pressurize
the tank. You want to unscrew it -- righty tighty, lefty lucy. So,
you want to pump it until you feel pressure in the tank. Quite a
bit of pressure. :19

The TOF program supplies everything a family needs for
a weekend of tent camping, except sleeping bags and
food, for only $55. Tamika Greer of Houston brought her
four children to the workshop.

We love the outdoors. We're always cycling, and we've always
wanted to go camping, but never had the guts. So, with this
program, it's kind of like camping for dummies, you know. So,
we just decided to go ahead and give it a try. :13

Your family can try it, too. Workshops are scheduled at
various parks through summer.

That's our show for today, with support from Toyota. To
