Head North to experience the Grand Canyon of Texas -- Palo Duro Canyon. Get to its base by horse, bike, or good, old-fashioned foot, and stay for the annual summertime show, "Texas," an all-ages drama of song, dance, and fireworks. [fireworks explosion] Another spectacle -- of wildlife -- is on display in South Texas, where the World Birding Center [birds chirping] provides a world-class destination for bird and nature lover's alike. Go East and other scenery awaits -- the Pineywoods with its swamps, [toads croaking] and Gulf Coast beaches. Take your rod and make some catches on the shore, or go inland to Purtis Creek where the lake is loaded with bass. Fishing is always free in state parks.
