BOATER SAFETY START DATE: IMMEDIATELY KILL DATE: September 1, 2011 Contact: Laurie Connally, 512-389-4914 BOATER SAFETY Boating season is here. And with more people on the water, it is important keep safety in mind when boating, paddling, fishing or just relaxing on the lake. Always remember that: * Before you set out on your boat, take one of the many boater safety courses offered by Texas Parks and Wildlife and their partners. * Everyone on your boat should wear a lifejacket at all times. * Filing a float plan that includes where you will be, what time you will return, and who is on the boat with you, will help others to locate you should you run into problems. For more information or to locate a boater safety course near you, log onto the Parks and Wildlife website: www.tpwd.state.tx.us.
