OUTDOOR SAFETY START DATE: IMMEDIATELY KILL DATE: August 31, 2012 Contact: Terry Erwin, 512-389-8140 OUTDOOR SAFETY Before you head outdoors for summer fun, consider safety first: Always carry plenty of water with you, and drink at least eight ounces for every hour you're outdoors to prevent dehydration and overheating. Know the warning signs of heat exhaustion: dizziness, clammy skin, nausea, and muscle cramps to name a few. If you suspect this condition, move to a cool place and rehydrate. When in the sun, wear a hat and protect your skin. Wear sunscreen with an SPF rating of 15 or greater, and reapply after you've been in the water or engaged in strenuous physical activity.
